Homecoming 2024: Road Trip

You're invited to join us for Homecoming 2024! This year's theme is "Road Trip: It's all about the Journey", a celebration of traveling, locations, and fun along the way towards the final destination. Homecoming festivities kick-off on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024. From cheering on the Bobcats to announcing the Homecoming Court, there will be a lot of fun and exciting activities for all ages to participate in.

Monday, February 12

Office Decorating Contest Begins 
Faculty and staff around campus are encouraged to showcase their school pride by decorating their door or entire office area for Homecoming using the theme Road Trip: It's all about the Journey.

Serenity Den Grand Opening at 3pm: Student Activities Center
Join us for the very first look at GCSU's brand new Serenity Den, a space specially designed for students to relax and de-stress! Located in the Student Activities Center, the Serenity Den is a key initiative of GCSU's Quality Enhancement Plan, Bobcats FIRST. After the Grand Opening, join us for pop-up events throughout the week to get a sneak peek at all the Serenity Den has to offer.

Baseball vs Albany State at 4pm: John Kurtz Field
Watch the Bobcats take on the Golden Rams at John Kurtz Field.

Thunder's Coffee House 10:30am: Magnolia Front Steps
Kick off Random Acts of Kindness Week by paying it forward! Leave an encouraging note on a coffee sleeve and enjoy a gourment cup of coffee, on us.

Silent Disco at 7pm: Magnolia Ballroom
Silent Disco is a unique way of experiencing music. Guests wear wireless headphones, and a silent atmosphere instantly transforms in to a high- energy musical performance. Enjoy the work of DJ Rafi or make requests for your favorite tracks, the choice is yours.  Tune in to up to three channels and different types of music and create the party you would prefer.

Office Decorating Judging 
Judging will begin at 10am and winners announced that afternoon on social media

Homecoming Election opens at 1pm
Forms to apply to run will open on Jan. 19. Campaigning begins on Feb. 5

GCSU Loves Me Event at 2pm: Front Campus 
Faculty, staff and students are invited to share in the love of all things GCSU. Assorted desserts and refreshments will be served, along with music and lots of fun. Homecoming t-shirts will be given out to the first 500 students to claim one. **T-shirts are for students only**


Thursday, February 15

Think Fast Trivia at 6pm: Donahoo Lounge
Come test your pop culture knowledge by participating in ThinkFast trivia. Event starts at 6:00pm in the Donahoo Lounge. Free food and a chance to win $200 in Amazon gift cards.

Battle of the Bobcats at 7:30pm: Magnolia Ballroom 
Join the Campus Activities Board for this annual musical event. Student-led bands and musical artists will compete to be the ultimate best of the Bobcats. Winner will get to open for the Spring Concert.


Friday, February 16

Homecoming Election closes at 1pm 

Homecoming Parade at 3pm: Throughout campus
Join the GCSU community as we celebrate at the Homecoming Parade. Departments, Student Organizations, Athletics and community groups are invited to participate and show your school spirit.

Saturday, February 17

Tent City Tailgate begins at 12pm (will conclude at 3:30pm): Centennial
Tent City is the official "Tailgating" event for the Homecoming Games and offers a place for everyone to gather in a convenient location.  All Tent City participants must register in order to participate. The registration deadline is Friday, Feb 9. Tent City is an opportunity for current students, faculty, staff, and alumni to rent a tent or bring a small personal tent as part of the homecoming celebration. Groups may choose to grill or bring prepared foods to serve their guests. Tailgating activities may begin at 12 p.m. at the tent locations and must conclude by 3:30 p.m. Tent rentals range from $350 to $850, with sizes ranging from 15x15' to 30'x30', and all rentals will receive one or more tables plus chairs, depending on the size of your tent. Groups bringing a small personal tent will only be charged a $40 reservation fee. NO Glass Allowed.

GCSU Basketball vs Lander (Women at 3:30pm and Men at 5:30pm): Centennial Center
Come cheer on the Bobcats as they take on Lander. The Homecoming Court will be announced during halftime of both games, with crowning of the King, Queen, Duke and Duchess occurring at the end of the men’s game.

Lifelong Learning Virtual Series

Join us for a virtual lunch and learn session. This will be session two in a four part series on Alumni Wellness.

TOPIC: Mental Health and Well-Being: Beyond the Breaking Point: Crafting Compassion in Chaos, with Dr. Emily Bailey ('14)

Dr. Bailey will discuss how to prevent and respond to stress and burnout by embracing self-compassion and living a values-based life. This will emphasize practical strategies to find balance in the midst of life’s challenges and chaos. Through experiential exercises, we will seek to uncover your core values. We will explore how aligning with these values through a self-compassion lens can help guide you toward a more balanced life.

We also invite you to visit the refreshed NPHC plaza near Bell Hall.
