Letter from the President
Georgia College & State University brings a rich history of educating students for lives of success, service and personal fulfillment, while changing to meet the current needs of the state and our country. Our dedication to this mission led Georgia College to become the state’s designated liberal arts university and a leader in professional and graduate studies.
Liberal arts institutions come in many shapes and sizes, and ours is a very practical one. Georgia College focuses on teaching the essential skills needed to navigate the complexities of life. These are coincidentally the same essential skills that employers repeatedly say they want in graduates they hire. By providing foundational skills in communications, critical and analytical thinking, problem-solving, and cross disciplinary studies, we equip our graduates with the ability to think critically, engage with diverse communities, and adapt to a rapidly evolving world. Employers seek out our graduates for positions that require complex and analytical thinking, innovative approaches, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Regardless of the major a student chooses to study at Georgia College, our broad liberal arts curriculum and award-winning “GC Journeys” program will place students in experiential learning and transformative experiences both inside and outside of the classroom where these essential skills can be mastered.
