EDEX 3170. CULTURE, IDENTITY, AND DIVERSITY IN TEACHING. (3-1-3)
This course familiarizes pre-service teachers with cultural, racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, disability, and language differences they can expect to encounter in the classroom and in working with families. Perhaps just as important, this course asks pre-service teachers to explore and critique their own cultural identities, to investigate how their lenses are similar to, or different from, those of their students as they begin to critically examine power, privilege, and marginalization in schools.
