MAC Address Help

Below you will find the information needed to find the MAC address of specific devices.  If we do not have your device listed, you can search the internet for possible instructions.  If you are unable to find instructions on the Internet, please contact the IT Help Desk and they will be able to assist you.

NOTE: Once you register your device you will need to connect it to the Bobcat Devices wireless network.

Amazon Echo
  1. Download the Amazon Alexa app to your phone or computer and sign in with your Amazon account.
  2. Connect to the wireless network transmitted by your Echo device.
  3. The wireless MAC address for your Echo can be found at the bottom of the Echo Setup screen in the Alexa app.
Amazon Fire TV
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Go to System.
  3. Go to About.
  4. In the About screen go down to Network.
  5. At the bottom of the screen you’ll see a heading called MAC Address (Wi-Fi).
Apple TV
  1. From the Home screen go to Settings.
  2. Select General from the Settings menu.
  3. Choose About in the General menu.
  4. The WiFi Address is located at the bottom on the screen.
Google Chromecast

Locate the MAC address during Chromecast setup

  1. From the "Connect to Wi-Fi" screen of the setup process, in the top right, tap More 3 dot menu icon.
  2. Tap Show MAC Address.

Locate the MAC address after Chromecast setup

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap your device's tile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings and then Device information.
  4. Under "Technical information," check your MAC address.
Google Home

If device is currently linked to your account:

  1. Open Google Home app
  2. Click upper-left hamburger menu icon
  3. Click "Devices"
  4. Click upper-right device dot menu for your device
  5. Select settings
  6. Find Information header (all the way down)
    1. "MAC Address" should be listed here – Includes letters A-F and numerals 0-9

If device is not currently linked to your account:

  1. Open Google Home app and plug in your Google Home device 
  2. Once the device has fully turned on, it should appear as a device found in the Google Home app
  3. Select "SET UP" and follow instructions until you reach "Connect to WiFi" step
  4. Click the three dots in upper-right corner, and select "Show MAC address"
  5. Copy down and/or take a screenshot of the MAC address. 
    1. Format should be:  "0a:1b:2c:3d:4e:5f "Only digits 0-9 and letters a-f  will be part of the MAC address
Nintendo Switch
  1. Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
  2. Scroll down through the menu and select Internet.
  3. The Nintendo Switch console’s MAC address will be listed under System MAC Address.
PlayStation 2
  1. Start your PS2 and load a Network Adaptor Startup Disc.
  2. Select ISP Setup on the main page.
  3. Click Agree under the 'License Agreement.'
  4. Select Local Area Network.
  5. Click Automatic Configuration.
  6. Select Advanced on the 'connection test' screen.
    1. Your MAC address will be at the bottom of the page.
PlayStation 3
  1. Start up your PlayStation 3 without a disk in the drive.
  2. Find the System Settings icon and select the X.
  3. Click System Information and press the X.
    1. Your Mac Address will display.
PlayStation 4
  1. Start up your PlayStation 4 without a disk in the drive.
  2. Find the System Settings icon and select the X.
  3. Click System Information and press the X.
    1. Your Mac Address will display.
Roku
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Go to System.
  3. Go to About.
  4. At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called Wired MAC and Wireless MAC
Tivo DVR
  1. Open the Tivo menu.
  2. Select settings.
  3. Select Phone/Network. The mac address will be shown.
Wii

Note: The Nintendo Wii is not capable of connecting to our wireless network; it requires a 1Mb/s data rate to connect, which has a negative impact on the campus wireless network.  If you would like to connect your Wii to the network, you will need a 'LAN Adapter' to connect it to the network jack in your room.  You can find a LAN Adapter or Wii network adapter on the internet for less than $20.

Steps to find the MAC Address of Ethernet adapter (in this case):  

  1. Plug your Wii LAN adapter into a USB port on your Windows PC.
  2. Wait for any Drivers to install. (They should be called Generic USB Ethernet Adapter.)
  3. After installation completes, go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
  4. Type ipconfig /all & press Enter.
  5. Scroll up until you find USB Ethernet Adapter.
Wii U
  1. From the Wii U Menu, select System Settings.
  2. Using the Left Stick select the Internet icon and press the A Button.
  3. Select View MAC Address and wait a moment for the MAC address to be displayed.
Xbox
  1. Turn on your Xbox game console with no game disk in the drive tray.
  2. From the Xbox Dashboard, choose Xbox Live.
  3. Your Xbox should display a message saying something like "A network connection could not be created".
  4. Press A to continue. The Connect Status screen will be displayed.
  5. Choose the Settings option, and then go to the Network Settings screen.Your Xbox MAC Address is displayed at the bottom right of the screen.
Xbox 360 (Pre-NXE)
  1. Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Network Settings
  2. Select Edit Settings.
  3. From Additional Settings, select Advanced Settings.
  4. At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called Wired MAC Address.
Xbox 360 (NXE)
  1. Go to My Xbox in the Xbox Dashboard and select System Settings.
  2. Click Network Settings, Configure Network.
  3. Select Advanced Settings from the Additional Settings tab, then select Alternate Mac Address.
  4. At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called Wired MAC.
Xbox One
  1. Go to My Xbox in the Xbox Dashboard and select Settings.
  2. In the Settings pane, select Network.
  3. Select Advanced Settings from the Network Settings tab.
  4. At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called Wired MAC and Wireless MAC.
