Other Major Requirements
- A grade of C or better must be earned in all PSYC courses counted toward the major.
- PSYC 1101 is a prerequisite to all PSYC 3000-4000 level courses; psychology majors must have a grade of c or better in PSYC 1101.
- Completion of PASS (Psychology Academic Success Skills) on-line course with a satisfactory grade of 94%. All students who transfer to GCSU or change their major to psychology must compete PASS.
- To declare a Psychology Major, students must (a) obtain a combined GPA of 2.5 in PSYC 2700 and PSYC 2800, (b) complete the "Application to become a Psychology Major", (c) complete on-line PASS (Psychology Academic Success Skills) and (d) complete these courses before reaching 90 institutional credit hours. Transfer students must declare psychology as a major prior to reaching 30 institutional credit hours.
- Students must take the Senior Exit Exam during the semester in which they graduate and pass it with a scaled score of 135 or higher. Students who do not earn at least a 135 on this exam must obtain a grade of C or higher in PSYC 4940 Senior Exit Exam Seminar.
- Students must successfully complete one of the Capstone options during their senior year. Students cannot use additional Capstone courses toward their Major Requirements.
- The pre-psychology major is the equivalent of an undeclared major with an emphasis in psychology coursework. In order to graduate with a Psychology major, students must apply and be accepted into the program, it is recommended that you apply before your junior year.
Additional Requirements
- A minimum of 39 hours overall (i.e., not necessarily in the major) must be at the 3000-4000 level.
- Electives must total at least 21 hours, not to exceed 30 hours.

Eighteen (18) hours (with a grade of C or better) distributed as follows:

- PSYC 2800 Research Methods in Psychology. (3 hours)
- Nine (9) hours of PSYC courses at the 3000-4000 level. Independent Studies and Internships may not be used to create a minor. Three (3) of the nine hours must come from the Psychology Content Area (3000 level courses).
