DEGREES OFFERED
The graduate programs in Early Childhood or Middle Grades Education lead to a Master of Art in Teaching Degree, a Master of Education Degree, or Education Specialist Degree.
The Department of Early Childhood and Middle Grades Education offers the following graduate degree programs:
- Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree with a major in Middle Grades – Science and Mathematics (4-8),;
- Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Early Childhood Education;
- Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Middle Grades Education;
- Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) degree in Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis in Early Childhood Education; and
- Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) degree in Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis in Middle Grades Education.
Additionally, it offers the following non-degree programs:
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement
- Reading Endorsement
CERTIFICATION
Students successfully completing the Middle Grades M.A.T. program for initial certification may be recommended for a level five (T5) Georgia Teacher's Certificate (4-8).
Students completing the M.Ed. in Early Childhood or Middle Grades Education may request level five certification through their school boards or directly to the PSC
Students completing the Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Early Childhood or Middle Grades Education may request level six certification through their school boards or directly to the PSC.
